An MT4 trading journal that syncs your trades automatically

Connect once with a read-only investor password. Every fill, modification, partial close, swap, and commission appears in the journal in seconds. Included in the 14-day Pro trial.

Most MT4 trading journals are CSV import tools with extra steps. You finish the week, export the statement from MT4, clean up the columns, upload to the journal, hope the timestamps line up.

With the Pro tier you get live sync instead. Connect your MT4 account once. Every trade you open, close, modify, partial-close, or hedge appears in the journal within seconds. The same goes for swaps, commissions, and dividend adjustments on CFD positions.

The 14-day trial includes this. No credit card. If you decide to stay, Pro is $55/mo with one live MT4 or MT5 connection included.

MetaAPI-powered

How the MT4 connection works

We use MetaAPI under the hood. You give us your account number, broker server, and investor password. The investor password is read-only by design. We can see your trades and balance. We cannot place trades or withdraw funds. Most brokers expose this credential in your client area under a name like "Investor Access" or "Read-Only Password."

Setup takes about 90 seconds. Pick your broker from the dropdown, paste credentials, hit connect. The journal backfills your recent trade history on the first sync and then runs live.

Automatic enrichment

What the journal does with your MT4 data

  • R-multiple, calculated against the stop loss you set in MT4.
  • MAE and MFE, calculated from MetaAPI's price data.
  • Session tagging (London, New York, Asia, Sydney).
  • Pair categorization (majors, minors, exotics).
  • Day-of-week and time-of-day analysis.
  • Spread cost tracking, because most retail traders do not realize how much of their P&L is paying for spread on exotic pairs at 2am.

Screenshots, emotion tags, and confluence notes attach to the synced trade. The sync is one-way for execution data but two-way for your journaling annotations.

If you trade end-of-day or want to test with historical data first, Standard plus CSV import gets you most of the analytics. If you want live equity tracking and real-time rule checks for a prop firm challenge, Pro is the fit.

What works, what doesn't

The honest part about MT4 brokers

Not every broker exposes investor passwords reliably. Some brokers rotate credentials or gate the investor password behind support tickets, which makes the sync flaky. Most major MT4/MT5 broker servers (including the prop firm servers from FTMO, FundedNext, Apex, and MyForexFunds) work consistently. If your broker is not in the supported list during connection, fall back to CSV import.

Tip: if your broker offers a separate "investor" credential in the client portal, use it. Do not share your master password. We do not want it.
Layered rules

For prop firm traders on MT4

Most prop firms run MT4 or MT5 servers. The live sync handles them. Once connected, Pro layers the firm's rules on top of the trade data and you get the prop firm dashboard with daily DD, trailing DD, and consistency tracking.

FAQ

Frequently asked

Is the investor password safe?
Yes. It is read-only by design at the broker level. We cannot place trades with it. Most brokers expose it as a separate credential precisely so you can share it with auditors or journal tools.
Which tier includes the live MT4 sync?
Pro ($55/mo) includes one live MT4 or MT5 connection. Extra connections are +$10/mo each. Standard ($30/mo) supports MT4/MT5 trade import via CSV upload or EA webhook, which is good for end-of-day journaling but not real-time. The 14-day trial includes the Pro live-sync feature.
What if my broker isn't supported?
CSV import works as a fallback on Standard and Pro. Upload your MT4 statement export and the journal parses it.
Does this work for MT5?
Yes. Same setup flow. Pick MT5 from the broker dropdown during connection.
How often does it sync?
Real-time event-based for new trades and closes. Background sync runs in the background for balance and equity updates. Position changes appear within seconds.
Can I connect more than one MT4 account?
Pro includes 1 connection. Extra MT4/MT5 connections are +$10/mo each, up to 10 accounts total.
